That always seems to be the first question I’m asked. The answer is simple, I have no desire to be a “Politician” my desire is to support the great City of Des Moines! I want to make a difference in our community, in the city where we are raising our children, in the town where we see potential around every corner!
As a 20yr resident, I live here with my two daughters, Natalie 17yr and Lilah 15yrs. I vow to continue to help Des Moines become the city we all yearn it to be. A place where our families feel safe, there is a sense and feel of community, where citizens and businesses thrive, all while protecting the quality of life and character of our amazing city!
Residents of our community know what a special place we live in. We are fortunate to be located in an area that has expedient connections to everywhere, minutes from the airport, I-5, other major thoroughfares and waterways. We have public, easily accessible, walkable beaches and waterfront property, along with majestic views of Mount Rainier, the Cascades and the Olympics! We have full time and seasonal Marina Moorage along with overnight guest moorage available for convenient access to the Des Moines Creek Trail, Des Moines Beach Park and the Des Moines Farmers Market (Saturdays, June — September.) But with all of our incredible natural resources and phenomenal location many of our businesses are still struggling to prosper and properties are still standing vacant. This is something I am working diligently to remedy!
As a local building contractor and former business owner and employer, I understand the struggles and can relate to our local businesses. Bringing my construction and building experience and knowledge to the dais, enables me to assist in making important decisions on the development and direction of the city. With young children in the Highline Public School District, I understand the challenges facing our youth and I long to create a bright future for the next generation.
I am a Construction Superintendent for a major Contracting Company in Seattle, a former Des Moines Business Owner and current Des Moines City Councilmember.
My girls, Natalie, 17yrs is a Junior at MRHS and Lilah, 15yrs is a Freshman. They have held a an annual Lemonade Stand Fundraiser that supports for local charities since 2014. To date have raised almost $11,000!
From Chili Cook-Offs to WatchDOGS, to Shop with a Cop to National Night Out to community planting events, I am actively supporting the community, schools and programs I love!
Your City Council has taken great strides over the past few years to simplify processes, refine regulations & ordinances and update building & zoning codes, all in an effort to ensure safety for our residents and to attract and retain businesses and jobs in Des Moines. The future revenue from these businesses are vital in our efforts to keep essential Police, Parks & Recreation, and Senior Services available for our residents.
Help me win this election so I can continue to work hard for you! Handing out flyers, doorbelling, posting signs in your yard, and donations are all great ways to help, but I also want to hear from you! Together, I believe we can find the solutions so our city can improve. Please, reach out and get involved!
